Though he tries to fight it, the connection between them is overwhelming. Being around her has those carefully constructed walls of his coming down and his willpower waning, but is he really ready to let her in? One thing’s for certain, he'll do anything to keep her safe.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! I opened the book to read a few chapters and read half of it, and finished it the next day. I easily pictured the characters and book locations in my mind which made it easy to connect with the story and characters. A great and steamy read! Looking forward to more in the series.

This book was great! The opening scene had my heart racing and wanting to know what happened next. The slow burn between Piper and Aidan was just delicious. Close proximity and forced situations with the immediate tension was just *chef’s kiss*. Can’t wait to read Lucy’s story this summer!

The Clearing by Marron Kaye, is a contemporary romantic suspense novel set in a small lake town. It centers around Piper, the town’s new librarian, and Aiden, a handsome, brooding former detective who lives alone in the woods. When Piper stumbles upon a terrifying mystery while on a nature hike, she finds herself in Aiden’s path and then under his protection.

I really loved the writing and plot of this novel. It moves quickly, and will keep you engaged and turning the page all the way to the end. It is romance centered, and the chemistry between the two main characters is electrifying. The suspense aspect of the book weaves seamlessly in with Piper and Aiden’s story, adding twists and turns to the plot that will have you saying, “Just one more chapter.”

The dual point of view is also flawless. I had no problem hearing the difference between Piper’s voice and Aiden’s, and I absolutely loved getting the story from both their perspectives.

Piper and Aiden are both extremely likable and endearing characters, and together they are magic on the page. Piper is kind and big hearted, and I absolutely loved how well developed her backstory and found family were in this book. Aiden is a little bit of the stereotype of the tall, dark, and brooding alpha male, but I adored him. He is the perfect romantic lead for Piper.

Loved this story. Piper is such a wonderful human. She’s so kind. I love the support system she has developed. She brings Aiden back to the land of the living. The mystery/suspense that runs through the story is also gripping. I love how it’s laid out, but getting to the finish is harrowing.

Couldn’t put it down! I’m not much of a reader, but this was so good. And HOT!!!

Right away I was drawn into the book. The very beginning of the book hooked me right in. I kept wanting to read to see what would happen next. There was enough suspense that kept the book interesting. I would recommend this author to people who like romance and suspense. I would read another book by this author.

Sweet love story that builds anticipation of a steamy happily ever after romance.

Piper in the middle of danger finds Aidan. The chemistry between them is hot. Hot & cold Aidan definitely makes you want to yell at him. We meet some interesting characters along the way. Piper is sweet & you just want her HEA!

This was a good book. I really enjoyed how this book started. The characters were interesting and fun to get to know. I look forward to reading more about this town.

From the very first page, I was interested in how everything would end and how the relationship between the main characters would develop. This story is a hot but slow-burning romance between Piper and Aidan. It was good, also I really like the cover, it calms and relates well to the text of the book. The mystery/suspense, which stretches like a thin, elegant thread, is very intriguing throughout the book. I always want to know the main secret as soon as possible. In such stories, it is very important to keep the reader's attention until the end and not reveal the main trump card of the story the end, the author managed to do this. The author also showed well the moral state of the main characters, what they have gone through, and what remains to be experienced. The main characters go through psychological difficulties and growing up as individuals, and they help each other in difficult moments

Piper and Aidan’s story was sweet and full of passion.

Both coming with trouble past, they will find solace and security in each other’s arms. But will it be enough to lead them towards what they think is unattainable for them, love?

I enjoy the novel, inner dialogues are a big pro for me in any books that I read. I liked the dual POV. I think the author could have give us more of P. And Aidan… it was a short and easy read. It could have been longer. I would have taken a couple hundred of pages more of them. Which is a good sign! I wanted more.

From the start you don’t want to put this one down! It’s easy to connect to the characters and how they’re feeling. I’m looking forward to more books in this series.

This book 👏 Let me tell you!

While living an independent lifestyle, Piper finds herself being chased through the woods after having witnessed something she shouldn't have. After stumbling out of the woods on to a property that looks abandoned, she finds herself face to face with Aidan.

Aidan lives an isolated life as he tries to hide from the mistakes of his past. He's instantly attracted to the woman who collapsed on his property and fights to keep his thoughts clean.

This book has so much going for it! The forced proximity just adds to the angst and internal war that Aidan is battling. There was so much back and forth between the two main characters, I was screaming and making sarcastic notes left and right. Don't get me wrong, I was rooting for Piper and Aidan from the beginning but so much could have been solved if Aidan wasn't so indecisive and Piper was a bit more head strong.

At the end of the day, I couldn't put it down. Once the ball gets rolling, it doesn't stop until there are no more words left. I'm excited for her second book coming this summer!

I love a good romantic suspense, and The Clearing is just that. And it starts off fast. I was a little worried the book would drag since it starts off with such an intense scene, but I was wrong. You find out bits and pieces throughout the book, and add in some tension, spice, and strong friendships, and the book is a page turner.

A phenomenal romantic suspense novel. This book hits the ground running in the first chapter and I was absolutely hooked. This book features enemies to lovers, forced proximity and some small town romance. The FMC is so sweet and understanding to the grumpy MMC as he works through his past and his electric feelings towards her. The spice is hot from the beginning and the MMC loves to dominate.

This was a quick read in the sense that I really couldn't put it down and devoured it. I loved every bump in the rocky road Piper and Aiden travel down. If you love a grumpy hero that tries (but fails) really hard to ignore his feelings, you'll want to read this! The intensity felt just right for this book and definitely had moments that were more intense than others. The portrayal of the tougher moments were perfect though. I can't wait to read more of this series and from this author.

I love a good thriller romance! While kind of predictable I still loved seeing Piper be the strong female lead she is. I also loved that with Aidan she didn't have to be totally alone and she didn't have to be so strong. Aidan really changed with Piper through the book and I love an improved character arc. I think these two went really good together and I loved their story.

Absolutely loved this book! Right from start to finish it was captivating! Loved Piper and Aiden so much. Five stars for this amazingly written romance.

Piper is the new librarian in town. She is getting settled into her new life in a small town. When she goes out for a hike she stumbles across a crime. She does what most anyone would do: RUNS as fast as she can in the opposite direction. During this sprint she stumbles into Aidan. He’s dealing with ghosts of his past. When she is able to explain all that she has been through he knows he needs to protect her because there is danger in their town. The chemistry starts to explode when they are forced to be together for her safety. Will Piper be safe? Will Aidan be able to face the ghosts of his past? Will the sleepy town be safe again?

This romance/mystery was so good. There are enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. There is also lots of fun however. The spice level is perfect for the book. It did not detract from the story, but gave a good depth to the feeling of Piper and Aidan. The final act was intense.

Aidan is a complex character. His guilt throughout the book is nearly his undoing. He begins pretty hot/cold and it does get frustrating for the reader (and Piper). Once he starts to let go he is a nice alpha male character. He has a strong support system that truly want him to be happy and they help show him the way.

This was my first Marron Kaye read. I really enjoyed it and I am looking forward to more.
